UPDATE: Busy Times!

It seems as though i've fallen off the grid for the last 2-3 months. Truthfully I've just been busy freelancing mostly and living life as a hustler lol. JK on the last part, sorta.

Since I haven't been working a full- time job since september I've taken up freelancing for now to experience it, and give myself a break from working nonstop for the last 6 years. It feels good to take a breather for a little bit. Also the job market sucks right now so the jobhunt has been turning up empty lol. So until then I am learning the ropes of freelancing and am I learning SO much! lol. Because I've been freelancing I haven't been updating my blog with new personal paintings and such. I'm still working on the Ice Cream painting and have very little left before its done. I also have numerous other sketches I need to paint up when I can! So with that I will update what I HAVE been working on! (well those that I can show).

Sketch of the day... annnd 100th blog post!

I had no idea this post is my 100th post, if i knew i would'a done some special drawing or something :P

But since i haven't ill just share my sketch of the day! i have to makeup for the lack of posts lately so i may post a few more  sketches today :P

Back from vacation/ late honeymoon + commission art!

I'm baaaacckk and more inspired than before! My husband and I FINALLY went on our honeymoon/ vacation last week to Disneyworld Florida. It was greeaat! It was much needed for the both of us since we both haven't taken a single personal vacation since... years. No exaggeration! We stayed for a week and did everything there that we could. Went on all the rides, ate a ton of food, took a ton of pictures. Basically enjoyed it to the max and savoring every vacation moment before getting back to the work grind lol. I DID have to finish up a piece of commission work that I couldn't finish before my vacation so I did have to work a little bit. I thought I'd share it since it is a little different from what I usually do! A friend of mine had an anniversary coming up and was looking for a drawing of her and her bf kind of in the inspiration of paperman. I had a few versions drawn up but we settled on this one and this was the end result!

I have a few more sketches I did in my sketchbook for my sketch of the day, while my work computer was being fixed and ill share those later :3

I'll probably write a more thorough review of Disneyworld and my experiences later!

"The Deep Abyss of Sadness"

I haven’t drawn from my heart in a long while. A few years actually. Since becoming a concept artist what i do artwise has become just that, concepts. When i was younger I used to draw and express how i felt and put it on paper. With time it got less and less as I went to art school to learn more commercial art. 

I should probably draw from my heart more often.. Sometimes my best stuff comes out that way.

With that said, I am also going to post (in another post) what I've been working on recently professionally. I just forget lol :P 

Ive been working on the game Gnometown on facebook. If you haven't played it yet, go do it! I've done a shitton of work for the game and get excited to share after they have been released in the game... but I forget lol. And of course, since I've been wedding planning I probably didn't have the time anyway. But SOON! Brace yourselves!

"Bear Hug"

Here's another quick painting for the Playground blog for the theme "Bear Hug" I tried using a diff technique from my usual. I got it from my coworker Emil who i'm assuming uses that technique when painting. Be sure to check out the blog and check out the other talented artists participating!

Cinderelly Cinderelly...!

I'm past the due date for the new theme for the Playground blog, but I still want to finish this and post it up eventually :P

Here's what I have so far in my sketch.

I didn't want to make her the Disney Cinderella, I wanted to make her my own. Some elements will be similar just so she's recognizable as Cinderella and not some random chick transforming with fairy dust surrounding her :P

But yeah hoping to finish it soon!!! gah! So i can get started on this weeks theme which is "Bear Hug" @__@

Moleskin Sketches!

It's been a while since I've posted anything art related or updated anything. I FINALLY got to do some sketches for fun. After work I usually work on more stuff thats work related or relax and watch something on Netflix, or play some Battlefield. Well Netflix just put out the LA Ink series, and i've never watched it before but I do like Kat Von D, so I just decided to watch it for the heck of it. I recommend it for any artist out there, it just motivated me to sketch while watching the show and it's honestly been a long while that anything motivated me to sketch. It's filled with artistic inspiration, even if it is a show about tattoos, its awesome, and I recommend it yo!

The Adventures of TJ & Skweek!

Ok well mostly finished. :P I had to stop working on it bc I was outta time. I have some small fixes here and there that I'd like to make that i'll do later :P

I finally was able to do a full painted revamp of TJ and Skweek. I changed them a little from how I originally created them and made them more proportionate and cute, etc. So I is happeh. Thank you Cintiq!!!!

Ape is only 2 days away and I had to be done with the painting asap so I could get it to print on time! Oh so tired... sooo tired.

Dhalsim Revised.

I was going through my folder of art I've done and I saw my Dhalsim painting, and thought, why am I not making a print out of this for APE? It's always gotten a lotta love from people. I'm nuts. So I extended it so its a full 8.5 x 10, since before it was just a square. And added more to it along with adjusting some things here and there. So check out my.... redone... Dhalsim painting!

More Zombie Progress!

Worked some more on this last night. I still have to do the face and more fleshing out in the sleeves, jeans, etc etc. But its progress from last time! :D

Finished Sailor Moon!

I readjusted a lot the shadows from before bc they didn't make as much sense etc. I'm pretty happy with this only because i have something finished. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to making art so I could go on and on with it, but i stopped myself because i have quite a lot of other pieces to make :P But I'm pretty happy with it so far. I might find minor changes to make to it later but for now its DUNZO! :D

Sailor Moon Progress 2

Some adjustments and stuff I did last night, mainly with the background. Messed around with random effects and ideas just to figure out what I wanted.

EDIT: Here's what I did for the night. I just added more stars to the background and started rendering out her face and one of her legs and arm more. I have more shading and rendering to do on her dress and costume. But overall i kind of like where its heading ;) I made her nose slightly smaller. and made her lips a little smaller but wider. I might have to mess around with her lips a lil bit more. Oh and added more shading to her face.

Its cool that i can open up both and compare my progress :P and so can u!

Progress on my Sailor Moon fanart!

I've been working on art stuff the past weekend as much as I could. Unfortunately due to holidays and events I wish I was able to do more, but here's what I've done on my Sailor Moon Fanart! It was done in Illustrator and i still have a bit to do. But thought I'd share my work in progress! ;)

I wanted to do a Sailor Moon piece bc its homage to what got me to jumpstart my illustration skill. I drew a lot as a kid, but Sailor Moon got me obsessed with being an artist :)
