"The Deep Abyss of Sadness"

I haven’t drawn from my heart in a long while. A few years actually. Since becoming a concept artist what i do artwise has become just that, concepts. When i was younger I used to draw and express how i felt and put it on paper. With time it got less and less as I went to art school to learn more commercial art.
I should probably draw from my heart more often.. Sometimes my best stuff comes out that way.

With that said, I am also going to post (in another post) what I've been working on recently professionally. I just forget lol :P

Ive been working on the game Gnometown on facebook. If you haven't played it yet, go do it! I've done a shitton of work for the game and get excited to share after they have been released in the game... but I forget lol. And of course, since I've been wedding planning I probably didn't have the time anyway. But SOON! Brace yourselves!

Post APE 2011

After a month long of no sleep and non-stop drawing painting and sketching for APE, it's over! It went by too fast it seems. It feels like a blurr!

But it was a total blast. Even if I was dead tired :P I met a TON of awesome ppl and for the first time my art was fully exposed to the public. So I was a little nervous at first but after I got over it, I had fun. I saw many familiar faces and met a bunch of artists, it's actually crazy how small the industry is, I met people that knew people I've worked with or gone to school with. There are so many talented people its both intimidating and motivating.

I even got interviewed by Geek Speak Radio Show and you can check out the interview here on YouTube! (Don't make fun! I was a lil nervous..)

They interviewed a lot of first timers at APE so be sure to check the rest of their interviews!

Overall it was a rewarding experience and an awesome place to make a ton of new artist friends and connections. Will i be doing it again? HELL YES. I'm considering doing Wondercon 2012 in Anaheim this year as well. So be sure to keep an eye out for that if i get a booth :P

I'll post up more pictures as soon as i get them....... since i didnt take my own :(

UPDATE!!! Pictures taken by my cousin!

Here is me at mah booth #420 :P (note the candy!)

I had the a helmet on display along with postcards with info on getting your own helmet painted on.

My amazing brothers and cousins who came to support.

ETSY Shop now open! :D

Hey everyone I just opened up an Etsy shop

For right now I'm selling prints of my art! Check it out!

I plan on doing all sorts of crazy crafts :D So keep an eye out!

Welcome to "Dead" 'Cenada

Mwahahaha! jk... O_O

I finished the zombie concept. I added just a little more from before.. <_<.... >_>...

Check it out!

So It took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with the background. Luckily I have a pretty creative bf and he gave me the suggestion for the background and I ran with it. Backgrounds and environments aren't my strong suite but I've come a long way from barely doing background images :P This was a fun piece to do to loosen me and my arm up on somewhat speedpainting. Hope people likey! And if you do.. and you're in SF... come to APE and buy a print! ;) (you see what I did there)

Dhalsim Revised.

I was going through my folder of art I've done and I saw my Dhalsim painting, and thought, why am I not making a print out of this for APE? It's always gotten a lotta love from people. I'm nuts. So I extended it so its a full 8.5 x 10, since before it was just a square. And added more to it along with adjusting some things here and there. So check out my.... redone... Dhalsim painting!

Comparison: (NEW!!!) Yaaaayy :D

                     (OLD) Aawwwww :(

Finished Sailor Moon!

She's FINIIISSHHEEED!.... for now.. ;)

I readjusted a lot the shadows from before bc they didn't make as much sense etc. I'm pretty happy with this only because i have something finished. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to making art so I could go on and on with it, but i stopped myself because i have quite a lot of other pieces to make :P But I'm pretty happy with it so far. I might find minor changes to make to it later but for now its DUNZO! :D

Sailor Moon Progress 2

Some adjustments and stuff I did last night, mainly with the background. Messed around with random effects and ideas just to figure out what I wanted.

EDIT: Here's what I did for the night. I just added more stars to the background and started rendering out her face and one of her legs and arm more. I have more shading and rendering to do on her dress and costume. But overall i kind of like where its heading ;) I made her nose slightly smaller. and made her lips a little smaller but wider. I might have to mess around with her lips a lil bit more. Oh and added more shading to her face.

Its cool that i can open up both and compare my progress :P and so can u!

Progress on my Sailor Moon fanart!

I've been working on art stuff the past weekend as much as I could. Unfortunately due to holidays and events I wish I was able to do more, but here's what I've done on my Sailor Moon Fanart! It was done in Illustrator and i still have a bit to do. But thought I'd share my work in progress! ;)

I wanted to do a Sailor Moon piece bc its homage to what got me to jumpstart my illustration skill. I drew a lot as a kid, but Sailor Moon got me obsessed with being an artist :)

Just a widdle update

On what I'm working on!... that is..

APE is coming up closer and closer and I'm SOO behind! >_<
So I'm sketching stuff like crazy all at once so I can ink/ paint them soonish. As long as I have a bunch of cool lineart I think that's a good base/ start to where I wanna go with... my stuff... lol. Stay tuned for more!

Just for funnn..!

So I recently made an investment and got a Cintiq. So I'm forcing myself to just paint for the heck of it. Just to find the fun in creating art again since the majority of art I make is work related. So here's a quick speedpaint of TJ. It's off an old sketch I did. A newer one is coming up soon! I figure i should exercise with painting some TJs since I was planning on finally starting on that comic I wanted to do. I might go in later and refine this one.

Lineart was done in Illustrator, painting done in PS :)

Yaaaay Cintiq!! @____@

The start of a new obsession.....

FELTING!!!!!!

(see below!)

My coworker Steph introduced us into the world of felting and its the coolest little thing! She suggested I order from Woolbuddy for a starter/practice kit. So i cut the wool in half so i could make 2 instead of just one and I loved every min of it! I was sleepy as heck but I couldn't put the needle down! I plan on doing more since it is kinda therapeutic after those long days working.

Eventually I'd love to make my characters and sell them on my Etsy (which is empty right now lol). And if u know me i have a love for cute things so it will be a cool way to channel any cute art style in me through felties!... Since i wanna stay away from cute in my illustrations. (personal pref)

So yeah sharing with the world how awesome felting is!!!

HELMET IS DONE!!!!

I finally finished painting the helmet!! :D It was a long process but I'm pretty happy with how it came out! I've gotten so invested in it that I didn't want to give it back lol. In these pix the helmet has not been clear coated yet. So I gave it to the bf to take care of that. Ill take moar pix after its clear coated. I can't wait bc i know it will look way better. The paint dried matte so some of the colors didn't look as bright and vivid as when the paint was wet.

Finishing this was definitely a great satisfying and rewarding feeling. Painting takes way longer than digitally painting and I've spent most of my life as an artist doing digital or only sketches. I learned a ton since I didn't take any painting classes so experimenting with colors was interesting. :) Stay tuned for the final final helmet results and pix!
