Forgotten Stuff but not forgotten!

Howdy all!

I've been neglecting this blog a lil lately since the launch of my website www.khanart.com. Since I have my blog attached to the site now I forgot to post schtuff here!

Well here's some stuff I've done in the past month or so to share!

First!... a revamp of my website portfolio. I've been working on a layout for a while but since im not tech savvy with all the new ways to make a website.. with this alien called wordpress and css.. i had my friend Nhathy help me out with the technical stuff. And it turned into this!

Here is a shot of a work in progress of what i'm currently trying to work on/ finish.  I'm messing with an idea for the background and have some base colors laid out.

I did this sketch of an idea of a style for some more Sailor Moon fanart i plan on doing..! All on a post it.

And here's a sneek peek at some thumbnail sketches from my sketchbook for the Sailor Scouts fanart i plan on doing!

Sketch of the day's from last week that i did not post!

(Aww its a sketch of my husbandface!)

Soo that's what u missed folks! Er... what I forgot to post here! Hope you like!

Sketch of the Day

It's been some time since my last post. I've been quite the busy bee the past month with attending comic con, starting on some personal projects and trying to get them to the finish line, and redesigning my website! So getting back into that sketch mode has been slow lol. But i have to get back to it so here's my sketch of the day!

10 min sketches

Sometimes i get a block while doing some work, and I've been doing this new thing where i take 10 min to sketch something, anything, really. It's definitely been helping with getting back that spark to draw more!

"The Deep Abyss of Sadness"

I haven’t drawn from my heart in a long while. A few years actually. Since becoming a concept artist what i do artwise has become just that, concepts. When i was younger I used to draw and express how i felt and put it on paper. With time it got less and less as I went to art school to learn more commercial art.
I should probably draw from my heart more often.. Sometimes my best stuff comes out that way.

With that said, I am also going to post (in another post) what I've been working on recently professionally. I just forget lol :P

Ive been working on the game Gnometown on facebook. If you haven't played it yet, go do it! I've done a shitton of work for the game and get excited to share after they have been released in the game... but I forget lol. And of course, since I've been wedding planning I probably didn't have the time anyway. But SOON! Brace yourselves!

Moleskin Sketches!

It's been a while since I've posted anything art related or updated anything. I FINALLY got to do some sketches for fun. After work I usually work on more stuff thats work related or relax and watch something on Netflix, or play some Battlefield. Well Netflix just put out the LA Ink series, and i've never watched it before but I do like Kat Von D, so I just decided to watch it for the heck of it. I recommend it for any artist out there, it just motivated me to sketch while watching the show and it's honestly been a long while that anything motivated me to sketch. It's filled with artistic inspiration, even if it is a show about tattoos, its awesome, and I recommend it yo!

And now to show off a sketch.

I used the iPhone app Diptic to take the photos :P (too lazy to scan)

More to come as i clean them up a lil!

Sketchessss

It's been a while since I've posted anything after APE!

I took the time to relax a bit and take a break cuz i was pretty burnt out, plus doing art at work lately has been nuts so my focus shifted to that. Here are some sketches I did the past week:

Poison Ivy

Princess Jasmine

I was in a crazy Princess Jasmine drawing mode the past 2 weeks so there are more sketches to come later. I wanted to be her for Halloween but didnt have the time to create a costume :( so sad.

Upon just randomly sketching yesterday i decided i wanted to draw Poison Ivy. I've decided to do some more fanart to practice my painting skills anyway.

So I'm sketching stuff like crazy all at once so I can ink/ paint them soonish. As long as I have a bunch of cool lineart I think that's a good base/ start to where I wanna go with... my stuff... lol. Stay tuned for more!

Motorcycle Helmet Project Part II

Update on the helmet!

Here's what I have on the helmet so far after doing a paintover concept in Photoshop.

I started out by sketching the scene in white pencil and reg pencil then decided to ink it with a sharpie so i can tell all my lines before painting all of it!

I'm liking how it's turning out so far. :)

Stay tuned for moar!

Motorcycle Helmet Project

I wanted to share what I've been, will be working on as an ongoing project with my bf. After painting his helmet up with sharpies we had a few people interested in me doing helmets for them. One of his buddies donated a helmet to us to paint and mess around with so I guess ill be posting the progress here! I'll be making a seperate website dedicated to this that will show these images as well so customers can see some of the process. My bf's friend Rudy really likes zombies so we came up with this concept.

Here I drew up thumbnail sketches for composition purposes. After a few ideas and fixes going back and forth with the bf....

I painted a quick sketched concept of the helmet in different views to get a better feel for what it would look like to make the drawing/ painting process easier. And a better way for my bf to visualize so he can approve etc.

Stay tuned for more progress! Ill be taking photos of the process as I go for my site but ill post them here too :P

Enjoy!

Moar Fiverr Commisshe's

So i had a cool opportunity to sketch for the amazing Jenny. She wanted the image to use in her blog which you should read btw because shes awesome. It's pretty inspiring. She's on a journey to travel and live life to the fullest.

And this was for someone who wanted a wolf with an Indian Headdress. I actually liked drawings this one. I don't get to draw animals much. I'm usually drawings humans so it feels good for a change. Oh and I love wolves! I got into wolves when I was doing research for my bf's helmet because they are just gorgeous. I enjoyed drawing them too. I've always loved dogs that resemble wolves, like Huskies or German Shepherds, or Alaskan Kleeklu (sp?). Love Love Love! I especially love Shiba Inu's because they look like a mix between a wolf and a fox :)

So anyhoo I liked drawing this one:

So many more drawings to go!! -__-"

Fiverr Madness!

It's been a while since i posted anything on here. I've been using my Tumblr more than Blogger just because its easier to upload and blurb about whatever i wanted. But since i just started an account on Fiverr i'll have my sketches to upload on hand rather than waiting til i get home and scan etc.

For those of you who have never heard of Fiverr, its a site where people offer whatever kind of services for $5. Some normal and some bizarre. So of course I joined in on it and decided to do sketches for $5. it forces me to draw :P And since its of the requests of the public i'm forced to try new things. Here are 2 i finished yesterday!

One was for a character someone created for their D&D game and the other one was for use on his personal site.

It feels pretty good to get back into drawing. What's even better is that these go to people and they have such nice things to say!

Check out my Fiverr post!

Sketchbook Project 2011

I recently was looking at some art blogs of different artists when i came across this link on one of the blogs (ill have to link her and look her up) about this Sketchbook Project. I was curious so i checked out the site and OMG is it an awesome cool idea! Basically you purchase and are sent a moleskin sketchbook by ArtHouseCo-op and u fill it up based on the theme you chose and send it in before Jan. All the sketchbooks are collected and exhibitioned around the state, as shown in the picture. THEN they are archived as library books for the public to check out at the Brookly Art Library. I mean hundreds and thousands of people will get to look at your sketches!

OF COURSE i’m gonna jump on that! That is TOTALLY going to motivate me to sketch often. So I can’t wait for it to come in the mail so i can get started :D

For anyone interested heres a link to the Project (http://arthousecoop.com/projects/sketchbookproject)

I’ll be posting some of my sketches on Tumblr when i get ittttt!

Pin Up Girl painting

Another class assignment! So for this assignment i am to paint something (anything) only using 2 colors on the color wheel that are next to each other and their compliments. I can use white and black to mix in too. So while most people did abstract things and such. I decided to do something cool and the first thing that came to my mind was a woman from the 1800's. I dont know why but it did so i went with it! I drew out a few thumbnails and i wanted her to be in those nice big gowns holding a pretty umbrella. A guy in my class had a graffiti book and on the page he was on there was a devil pinup girl and it gave me another idea. To make the 1800's girl pinup style!

Here are some progress shots.. It's a work in progress. Ill post up updates as i finish up. Sorry the pix are crappy quality. i took them with my phone with low lighting. Better pictures to be posted soon!

The last one is a colored thumbnail so i would know what color to use where.

Check back soon for more progress!
