UPDATE: Busy Times!

It seems as though i've fallen off the grid for the last 2-3 months. Truthfully I've just been busy freelancing mostly and living life as a hustler lol. JK on the last part, sorta.

Since I haven't been working a full- time job since september I've taken up freelancing for now to experience it, and give myself a break from working nonstop for the last 6 years. It feels good to take a breather for a little bit. Also the job market sucks right now so the jobhunt has been turning up empty lol. So until then I am learning the ropes of freelancing and am I learning SO much! lol. Because I've been freelancing I haven't been updating my blog with new personal paintings and such. I'm still working on the Ice Cream painting and have very little left before its done. I also have numerous other sketches I need to paint up when I can! So with that I will update what I HAVE been working on! (well those that I can show).

It's been some time since my last post. I've been quite the busy bee the past month with attending comic con, starting on some personal projects and trying to get them to the finish line, and redesigning my website! So getting back into that sketch mode has been slow lol. But i have to get back to it so here's my sketch of the day!

Muse-Box's Motown March Show: Heatwave

Muse-Box is having an art gallery show based off the theme "Motown March!" And it features various artists including some from Girls Drawing Girls. This is the first time I'm participating in a show, or a gallery, like ever! And I'm pretty excited. Unfortunately I wont be there in person to attend but if you are in the LA area be sure to give us artists participating some awesome support! Check out the show, dance, drink, have fun!

10 min sketches

Sometimes i get a block while doing some work, and I've been doing this new thing where i take 10 min to sketch something, anything, really. It's definitely been helping with getting back that spark to draw more!

Decided to spend 10-15 min sketching after work to loosen my hand up and sketch sa'more. So I drew the first thing I spotted on my desktop that i saved for a possible wedding hair look. Megan Fox! Yeeey

Sketch of the Day

I think for my own sanity I will do a quick sketch of the day to exercise my drawing skills more and more, (outside of work that is). As a young artist in school, you are able to draw out whatever that is the creative genius in your head. I never really thought I would for a while, stop drawing personal things when i got an industry job. I haven't completely stopped, i mean maybe I haven't drawn in a while bc of wedding plans and other big things in my life currently that have taken more priority. But I don't want this to be a habit. I have a coworker who draws for an hour everyday, as an exercise. I must do the same!

"The Deep Abyss of Sadness"

I haven’t drawn from my heart in a long while. A few years actually. Since becoming a concept artist what i do artwise has become just that, concepts. When i was younger I used to draw and express how i felt and put it on paper. With time it got less and less as I went to art school to learn more commercial art. 

I should probably draw from my heart more often.. Sometimes my best stuff comes out that way.

With that said, I am also going to post (in another post) what I've been working on recently professionally. I just forget lol :P 

Ive been working on the game Gnometown on facebook. If you haven't played it yet, go do it! I've done a shitton of work for the game and get excited to share after they have been released in the game... but I forget lol. And of course, since I've been wedding planning I probably didn't have the time anyway. But SOON! Brace yourselves!

Cinderelly Cinderelly...!

I'm past the due date for the new theme for the Playground blog, but I still want to finish this and post it up eventually :P

Here's what I have so far in my sketch.

I didn't want to make her the Disney Cinderella, I wanted to make her my own. Some elements will be similar just so she's recognizable as Cinderella and not some random chick transforming with fairy dust surrounding her :P

But yeah hoping to finish it soon!!! gah! So i can get started on this weeks theme which is "Bear Hug" @__@

We do this challenge at work based off a theme. This is the first one I actually did bc ive been too busy to paint anything. But I'm going to try to paint moar!

Poison Ivy Sketch

I work on this whenever i get the chance after work. And ive just been sketching and sketching and sketching here and there til i get it perfect. I still have more to go, like her costume and the background and the snake, etc. But here's my progress so far..

In the next few months I'm trying to do more fanart to give me practice sketching and painting, ALSO finally finish the bellydancer :P Sometimes i need to take a break from that and do something else so fanart is the way to go :D

It's been a while since I've posted anything after APE!

I took the time to relax a bit and take a break cuz i was pretty burnt out, plus doing art at work lately has been nuts so my focus shifted to that. Here are some sketches I did the past week:

Poison Ivy

Princess Jasmine

I was in a crazy Princess Jasmine drawing mode the past 2 weeks so there are more sketches to come later. I wanted to be her for Halloween but didnt have the time to create a costume :( so sad.

Upon just randomly sketching yesterday i decided i wanted to draw Poison Ivy. I've decided to do some more fanart to practice my painting skills anyway.

So It took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with the background. Luckily I have a pretty creative bf and he gave me the suggestion for the background and I ran with it. Backgrounds and environments aren't my strong suite but I've come a long way from barely doing background images :P This was a fun piece to do to loosen me and my arm up on somewhat speedpainting. Hope people likey! And if you do.. and you're in SF... come to APE and buy a print! ;) (you see what I did there)

Dhalsim Revised.

I was going through my folder of art I've done and I saw my Dhalsim painting, and thought, why am I not making a print out of this for APE? It's always gotten a lotta love from people. I'm nuts. So I extended it so its a full 8.5 x 10, since before it was just a square. And added more to it along with adjusting some things here and there. So check out my.... redone... Dhalsim painting!

Sailor Moon Progress 2

Some adjustments and stuff I did last night, mainly with the background. Messed around with random effects and ideas just to figure out what I wanted.

EDIT: Here's what I did for the night. I just added more stars to the background and started rendering out her face and one of her legs and arm more. I have more shading and rendering to do on her dress and costume. But overall i kind of like where its heading ;) I made her nose slightly smaller. and made her lips a little smaller but wider. I might have to mess around with her lips a lil bit more. Oh and added more shading to her face.

Its cool that i can open up both and compare my progress :P and so can u!
