Muse-Box is having an art gallery show based off the theme "Motown March!" And it features various artists including some from Girls Drawing Girls. This is the first time I'm participating in a show, or a gallery, like ever! And I'm pretty excited. Unfortunately I wont be there in person to attend but if you are in the LA area be sure to give us artists participating some awesome support! Check out the show, dance, drink, have fun!
For more info about the event this Sat, March 23rd, check out this link.
I didn't want to post this up until I was finished this time. But here is what I have submitted :D
This piece was inspired by the song “Heatwave” by Martha & the Vandellas.
Concept artist blog where you can find my latest sketches and doodles or finished artwork as well as some cake baking and decorating i do on the side :B

Mermaid of Rainbows Progress
Unfortunately I didn't make it far enough to finish this painting before this past Sunday to post on the Girls Drawing Girls Blog. So I'll post up a progress. I'm going to continue working on it to finish the painting at least. It was fun to do. :D I don't paint as often as I would like.

10 min sketches
Sometimes i get a block while doing some work, and I've been doing this new thing where i take 10 min to sketch something, anything, really. It's definitely been helping with getting back that spark to draw more!

Sketch of the Day
I think for my own sanity I will do a quick sketch of the day to exercise my drawing skills more and more, (outside of work that is). As a young artist in school, you are able to draw out whatever that is the creative genius in your head. I never really thought I would for a while, stop drawing personal things when i got an industry job. I haven't completely stopped, i mean maybe I haven't drawn in a while bc of wedding plans and other big things in my life currently that have taken more priority. But I don't want this to be a habit. I have a coworker who draws for an hour everyday, as an exercise. I must do the same!
Soooo here's my sketch of the day or SOTD:

"Bear Hug"
Here's another quick painting for the Playground blog for the theme "Bear Hug" I tried using a diff technique from my usual. I got it from my coworker Emil who i'm assuming uses that technique when painting. Be sure to check out the blog and check out the other talented artists participating!

Cinderelly Cinderelly...!
I'm past the due date for the new theme for the Playground blog, but I still want to finish this and post it up eventually :P
Here's what I have so far in my sketch.
Here's what I have so far in my sketch.
I didn't want to make her the Disney Cinderella, I wanted to make her my own. Some elements will be similar just so she's recognizable as Cinderella and not some random chick transforming with fairy dust surrounding her :P
But yeah hoping to finish it soon!!! gah! So i can get started on this weeks theme which is "Bear Hug" @__@

Check it out!

So It took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with the background. Luckily I have a pretty creative bf and he gave me the suggestion for the background and I ran with it. Backgrounds and environments aren't my strong suite but I've come a long way from barely doing background images :P This was a fun piece to do to loosen me and my arm up on somewhat speedpainting. Hope people likey! And if you do.. and you're in SF... come to APE and buy a print! ;) (you see what I did there)

Finished Sailor Moon!
She's FINIIISSHHEEED!.... for now.. ;)
I readjusted a lot the shadows from before bc they didn't make as much sense etc. I'm pretty happy with this only because i have something finished. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to making art so I could go on and on with it, but i stopped myself because i have quite a lot of other pieces to make :P But I'm pretty happy with it so far. I might find minor changes to make to it later but for now its DUNZO! :D

Sailor Moon Progress 2
Some adjustments and stuff I did last night, mainly with the background. Messed around with random effects and ideas just to figure out what I wanted.
EDIT: Here's what I did for the night. I just added more stars to the background and started rendering out her face and one of her legs and arm more. I have more shading and rendering to do on her dress and costume. But overall i kind of like where its heading ;) I made her nose slightly smaller. and made her lips a little smaller but wider. I might have to mess around with her lips a lil bit more. Oh and added more shading to her face.
Its cool that i can open up both and compare my progress :P and so can u!

Bellydancer Progress :)
I've put this off far too long! And I'm finally getting back onto finishing painting her. I also gave her a new face. Here's a progress shot! I'm excited for the outcome of this. I can tell my painting skills have improved since the last time i worked on this painting (which was several months ago).
Check it out yo!

HELMET IS DONE!!!!
I finally finished painting the helmet!! :D It was a long process but I'm pretty happy with how it came out! I've gotten so invested in it that I didn't want to give it back lol. In these pix the helmet has not been clear coated yet. So I gave it to the bf to take care of that. Ill take moar pix after its clear coated. I can't wait bc i know it will look way better. The paint dried matte so some of the colors didn't look as bright and vivid as when the paint was wet.

Finishing this was definitely a great satisfying and rewarding feeling. Painting takes way longer than digitally painting and I've spent most of my life as an artist doing digital or only sketches. I learned a ton since I didn't take any painting classes so experimenting with colors was interesting. :) Stay tuned for the final final helmet results and pix!

Bellydancer update
I never got to post an update on my bellydancer/ assassin concept. I haven't worked on it in a while due to being busy with life and work. But I had gotten more work on it than the last time i showed progress. There's still a ton to be done and i wanted to redo the face i had on her since i didn't like it and it wasn't what i originally imagined. But yeah here's what it looks like right now. Hopefully after finishing the helmet I can get back on this!

omg helmet progress!.... and a special treat!
Here are some more progress pix ive taken with my iPhone! A lot of the streaky looking paint is more of the blocked in parts or underpaintings before i finalize the zombie/ guy. I finished the first zombie (2nd image) and was satisfied with the colors i have him etc. I might just add some more highlights on his left side but overall his face is done. I want to have all my zombies to this amount of detail. All i have left on the guy is his face, bullets, gun, hands, chain, and grenade. I have more on the helmet done which you dont see in these pix. Those will be up when i get to another good stopping point :)
I'm pretty content with where it's going and can't wait to finish it.

OH and I made oreo covered chocolate chip cookies.... @_@ which everyone should try bc its mind blowingly amazing!

And OREO... in a CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE ftw!!!!!!
Damn i want some more....

Moar Painting Practice!
Continuing on speed paintings. Only in this one I was trying to mess with a little more color. The goal was to make it so there's a focal point. The first 3 i was using the same colors, since i was too afraid to branch out into my own colors. The last one you can see that I made my own composition, even though it's a crappy composition. I was focusing more on what colors to use to make the rocks in the back seem far and the foreground be more noticeable.
