Evil Gnome Customs: putting pieces together

On developing the website for Evil Gnome Customs, here's something i patched together to display each helmet. I did a test one for the sharpie helmet. Ill be doing the zombie helmet next. But I kinda like it. Clean and simple.

I'm still fussing with the logo, but i finished editing all the dslr photos and am patching up the jpgs for the gallery :D I'm getting excited about this!

Stay tuned for more updates!

EDIT: I Couldn't find whether or not I posted the zombie helmet so I shall post here!

Post APE 2011

After a month long of no sleep and non-stop drawing painting and sketching for APE, it's over! It went by too fast it seems. It feels like a blurr!

But it was a total blast. Even if I was dead tired :P I met a TON of awesome ppl and for the first time my art was fully exposed to the public. So I was a little nervous at first but after I got over it, I had fun. I saw many familiar faces and met a bunch of artists, it's actually crazy how small the industry is, I met people that knew people I've worked with or gone to school with. There are so many talented people its both intimidating and motivating.

I even got interviewed by Geek Speak Radio Show and you can check out the interview here on YouTube! (Don't make fun! I was a lil nervous..)

They interviewed a lot of first timers at APE so be sure to check the rest of their interviews!

Overall it was a rewarding experience and an awesome place to make a ton of new artist friends and connections. Will i be doing it again? HELL YES. I'm considering doing Wondercon 2012 in Anaheim this year as well. So be sure to keep an eye out for that if i get a booth :P

I'll post up more pictures as soon as i get them....... since i didnt take my own :(

UPDATE!!! Pictures taken by my cousin!

Here is me at mah booth #420 :P (note the candy!)

I had the a helmet on display along with postcards with info on getting your own helmet painted on.

My amazing brothers and cousins who came to support.

HELMET IS DONE!!!!

I finally finished painting the helmet!! :D It was a long process but I'm pretty happy with how it came out! I've gotten so invested in it that I didn't want to give it back lol. In these pix the helmet has not been clear coated yet. So I gave it to the bf to take care of that. Ill take moar pix after its clear coated. I can't wait bc i know it will look way better. The paint dried matte so some of the colors didn't look as bright and vivid as when the paint was wet.

Finishing this was definitely a great satisfying and rewarding feeling. Painting takes way longer than digitally painting and I've spent most of my life as an artist doing digital or only sketches. I learned a ton since I didn't take any painting classes so experimenting with colors was interesting. :) Stay tuned for the final final helmet results and pix!

omg helmet progress!.... and a special treat!

Here are some more progress pix ive taken with my iPhone! A lot of the streaky looking paint is more of the blocked in parts or underpaintings before i finalize the zombie/ guy. I finished the first zombie (2nd image) and was satisfied with the colors i have him etc. I might just add some more highlights on his left side but overall his face is done. I want to have all my zombies to this amount of detail. All i have left on the guy is his face, bullets, gun, hands, chain, and grenade. I have more on the helmet done which you dont see in these pix. Those will be up when i get to another good stopping point :)

I'm pretty content with where it's going and can't wait to finish it.

OH and I made oreo covered chocolate chip cookies.... @_@ which everyone should try bc its mind blowingly amazing!

And OREO... in a CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE ftw!!!!!!

Damn i want some more....

Motorcycle Helmet Project Part II

Update on the helmet!

Here's what I have on the helmet so far after doing a paintover concept in Photoshop.

I started out by sketching the scene in white pencil and reg pencil then decided to ink it with a sharpie so i can tell all my lines before painting all of it!

I'm liking how it's turning out so far. :)

Stay tuned for moar!

Motorcycle Helmet Project

I wanted to share what I've been, will be working on as an ongoing project with my bf. After painting his helmet up with sharpies we had a few people interested in me doing helmets for them. One of his buddies donated a helmet to us to paint and mess around with so I guess ill be posting the progress here! I'll be making a seperate website dedicated to this that will show these images as well so customers can see some of the process. My bf's friend Rudy really likes zombies so we came up with this concept.

Here I drew up thumbnail sketches for composition purposes. After a few ideas and fixes going back and forth with the bf....

I painted a quick sketched concept of the helmet in different views to get a better feel for what it would look like to make the drawing/ painting process easier. And a better way for my bf to visualize so he can approve etc.

Stay tuned for more progress! Ill be taking photos of the process as I go for my site but ill post them here too :P

Enjoy!

Motorcycle Helmet... and a silver Sharpie!!

I forgot to post pictures of the motorcycle helmet I did art on! My bf asked me if I could draw a fantastic illustration on his helmet with a silver sharpie and to go crazy with it.. and so I did.. heh heh heh... >:)

I was in a rush to do it bc I wanted to surprise him. So I believe I finished it within 10 hours.. all Sharpie! :D

He sparked me with the ideas since he requested a tiger on one side and a wolf on the other (what can I say he's my muse.. :B)..

He clear coated it with a special clear coat that doesn't have alcohol in it (since alcohol makes sharpie ink run).. and voila!!!

So yesterday I went and bought a helmet for the heck of it.. well for myself, just in case I'll ever need one to ride with him, and am gonna paint the heck out of it! I'm thinking maybe acrylic paint on it. I'd use airbrush if I had an airbrush machine and knew how to do it. I'll just have to wait around til my bday comes ;)

Moto X Show!

So my bf took me to this motorcycle convention and asked me to bring my bros along. It was pretty cool. It was like a small comic con but with motorcycles lol. People were sitting on bikes and taking pictures with them and they even had some artwork on bikes thing which i found pretty interesting. It was also fun seeing my boys get excited over bikes like kids with new toys lol. It was cute. I definitely want to ride a motorcycle once in my life... maybe even want to own one. They look so awesome!

So here are some pix I took of the stunt show :P
